Write On The Night is an informal evening held upstairs in the beautiful and historic Sallyport Hotel, situated opposite Portsmouth Cathedral in High St. Old Portsmouth. Doors open at 7.30pm for an 8pm start.
3 themes are given and those inspired to write on any one of them put £3 in the pot and have 20 minutes to come up with a story. After all have been read there is an anonymous vote, and the winner takes the pot.
There will always be 2 opportunities to write/read/win in an evening. Admission is £2 which includes a complimentary glass of wine. Come along for a challenging and fun evening in a friendly environment.

Looking for original chapter book fiction to form part of a brand new list for 2009:
Under-5s; length, stories around1,000 words;
short chapters of 2/3 pages and simple language construction
6 – 8s, as above but 4,000 – 5,000 words; short chapters of 6/10 pps.
9 –12s: stories of 15,000 – 30,000 words, divided into 10–20 short chapters
age-appropriate subject matter with exciting plot lines,
strong characterisation and possibly an element of humour.
Subject matter: mystery, adventure, science fiction, school-life,
animals, friendship, spooky. NB, not fantasy.
Submit synopsis and sample chapter by post only.
Response time: three months.
